Experience you can measure.
Installing an HRV/ERV is a project that lasts.
An air exchanger that's poorly sized, badly connected or installed without regard for your duct network is a guarantee of humidity, noise and condensation problems for the next decade. That's why we take our time.
Since 1998, Groupe Exl-Or has been installing air exchangers in Québec, Lévis and area. More than 1,000 units installed, across every type of home — from new condos to 1970s bungalows, renovated houses and construction sites.
Based in Québec, our installers plan every job: CFM calculation, register balancing, airtight connection, commissioning and homeowner training — with no hidden travel fees. Groupe Exl-Or holds RBQ licence 5760-9380-01.
- Sizing based on square footage and number of rooms
- Airtight, quiet installation compliant with the Building Code
- Commissioning and homeowner training included
Is your exchanger 15 to 20 years old? Time to talk about it.
HRV/ERV units have an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years. Beyond that, the motor wears out, the recovery core loses efficiency and energy use climbs — without you noticing.
Typical signs: unusual noise at startup, windows fogging up in winter despite use, a stale-air feeling, rising electricity bills, or simply a discontinued model whose parts are no longer available.
A new unit recovers up to 85% of the heat from outgoing air and uses up to 60% less energy than a 2000s model. The return on investment is quick — especially with the Rénoclimat and LogisVert grants.

Eligible for the Rénoclimat program.
The Québec government's Rénoclimat program offers up to $500 back on an eligible air exchanger. Note for 2026: replacing the exchanger alone usually isn't enough — the grant is part of a broader process (before/after energy assessment by a certified advisor, often combined with other measures). On request, we provide the invoice and unit specifications to support your application.
Check my eligibility →An installation built to last, not just to pass inspection.
With 25 years in the field, we've seen it all — units that hold up and ones we have to replace after five years, installations that clean up in ten minutes and ones that are a real headache. We install with you in mind, but also the technician who'll come by in ten years.
Every installation is sized to your home — square footage, number of rooms, building airtightness — and cleanly connected to your existing network. We protect your floors during the work, clean up on the way out, and take the time to train the homeowner on using the wall control and maintaining the filters.
This diligence is why our installations are regularly still running after 18 years, with no major intervention.
Several ways to spread out the cost.
Our all-in $2,300 + tx replacement package covers the vast majority of residential cases. For more complex projects (new construction, duct network to redo, high-end model), a custom quote is prepared from the in-home visit — free of charge.
We accept payment by Interac e-Transfer and debit card. For larger projects, we offer a financing plan through Financeit — fast pre-approval, monthly payments tailored to your budget.
Once installed, consider periodic cleaning every 2-3 years to preserve your unit's warranty and performance.
Condo or multi-unit package.
Does your condo need to replace several air exchangers? We offer bundled packages with progressive discounts based on the number of units. The more units in the project, the lower the per-unit price.
For eligible projects, condo boards can also apply to the Québec government's Rénoclimat program — we provide the invoices and specifications needed to support the file.
Several complementary services can be added to the installation, such as an annual exchanger maintenance contract.

Once installed, think about maintenance.
A new air exchanger delivers full performance for 2 to 3 years. After that, professional cleaning becomes essential to preserve airflow, warranty and air quality. Our installation clients get a preferred rate on their first cleaning.
